Disorders and Treatment Approach

  • Attachment

Attachment develops in early childhood and examines how a person has developed and maintained relationships and coping mechanisms. Based on these attachment styles a person may experience symptoms of anxiety and depression. We will support you in exploring schemas and patterns, parts of self (shadow work), and somatic reprocessing to empower you to create a healthy attachment with the self that is worthy and confident.

  • Trauma

Trauma can come in many forms and create long lasting physical and emotional pain and discomfort. It can make life feel unpredictable, scary, and alone. In therapy, when working with a client who has PTSD, the first and foremost is developing a place where you feel heard, validated, and safe to share what is necessary to you on your path of healing. It is not linear and there is hope.

  • ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can impact many life domains and functioning. There are three main categories of ADHD that come with their own challenges making it difficult to regulate emotions, control impulsive behaviors, maintain employment/grades, and develop healthy relationships. Together we will support you in managing symptoms and work towards a more balanced life.

  • Mood and Behavioral Disorders

It can be difficult to manage and regulate moods and emotions when day to day life seems impossible. At times it may feel like you are living under a rain cloud or moving so fast through actions that later create deeper sadness, loss, and shame. Mood disorders include bipolar and depression

  • DBT Based Skills

Dialectical Behavioral Skills explores the ability to bring awareness to thoughts, emotions, and behaviors non-judgmentally to create behavior changes, make healthy boundaries, and attain a life worth living.

  • CBT Based Modalities

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy examines the relationship of behavior, anxiety, and depression while honoring the challenging experiences a person has survived. TFCBT allows an individual and family to process their story in a safe environment while reframing their experiences into their strengths.

  • Experiential and Activity Based Interventions

Experiential therapy is an alternative approach that allows a person to work through current and past conflicts that continue to show up in their everyday lives. Through canine assisted and adventure based activities a person is able to process and communicate in varying ways to re-conceptualize their emotions and thoughts and the impact they have on their behavior and relationships.
